Jayhawk BioResearch Scholars Benefits

The Jayhawk BioResearch Scholars Program (established in 2020 as Pre-MARC and now rebranded as JABRS) is targeted towards freshman from groups that are underrepresented in the biomedical sciences and are interested in pursuing research careers in the Biomedical Sciences. JABR Scholars with be paired with a graduate mentor, will participate in professional development workshops, and be provided guidance for getting started in a research lab. A subset of JABR Scholars will be selected for the MARC program in their sophomore or junior year.

Program Advantages

Freshman and sophomores from groups that are underrepresented in the biomedical sciences, and are interested in pursuing graduate careers in biomedical fields can join the Jayhawk BioResearch Scholars (JABRS) program. The program will:

  • help you prepare for an undergraduate research experience and pairs you with a graduate student mentor
  • provide you with seminars and workshops to expand your professional network and learn about research opportunities and careers in science early in your educational journey  
  • position you to apply for and potentially be selected to join the competitive MARC program
