Akhila Ayyadevara

Akhila Ayyadevara, of Overland Park, is a senior majoring in behavioral neuroscience. Akhila is mentored by Dr. Adam Smith, professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology. Akhila’s research focuses on spatial characterization of Corticotropin-releasing hormones.

 

Jianna Bond

Jianna Bond, of Lincoln Nebraska, is a senior at KU majoring in microbiology with a minor in Political Science. Jianna is mentored by Dr. Unckless, associate Professor in the Department of Molecular Biosciences. Jianna’s research focuses on mapping genetic variance in response to bacterial pathogens using Drosophila melanogaster. 

 

Kamar Chahine

Kamar Chahine, of Lawrence KS, is a junior at KU majoring in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology. Kamar is mentored by Dr. Kristi Neufeld professor in the Department of Molecular Biosciences. Kamar’s MARC research investigates the effect of heat shock on the subcellular localization of tumor suppressor protein APC.

 

Ginny Ge

Ginny Ge, of Hays KS, is a junior at KU majoring in interdisciplinary computing with an emphasis in chemistry. Ginny is mentored by Dr. Prajnaparamita Dhar, professor of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering. Ginny’s MARC research investigates the surface activity of polysorbate -based surfactants as excipients in drug formulations. 

 

Lawrence James-Osundu

Lawrence James-Osondu, of Fate Texas, is a sophomore majoring in Exercise Science. Lawrence is mentored by Dr. Trent Herda, professor in the Department of Health, Sport, and Exercise Sciences. Lawrence’s research focuses on comparing different resistance methods in patients with anterior cruciate ligament construction. 

 

Seth Pua

Seth Pua, of Lawrence Kansas, is a junior majoring in math. Seth is mentored by Dr. Maria Orive and Dr. Folashade Agusto, professors in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Seth’s research focuses on creating a recursion equation for the analysis of a Plant-Host Fungal-Pathogen Model.  

 

Kate Rosa 

Kate Rosa, of Emporia Kansas, is a sophomore majoring in biochemistry. Kate is mentored by Dr. Robin Orozco, professor in the Department of Molecular Biosciences. Kate’s research focuses on elucidating the role of autoimmune associated allele PTPN22 in antiviral immunity.

 

Emmanuel Saama 

Emmanuel Saama, of Overland Park Kansas, is a sophomore majoring in Chemistry. Emmanuel is mentored by Dr. Laird Forrest, professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry. Emmanuel’s research focuses on the determination of the role of oxidation in the bioavailability of subcutaneous dosed biopharmaceuticals. 

 

Anjali Singh

Anjali Singh, of Wichita Kansas, is a sophomore majoring in human biology and women, gender, and sexuality studies. Anjali is mentored by Dr. Minae Mure, professor in the Department of Chemistry. 

 

Lucian Sours

Lucian Sours, of Pittsburgh Kansas, is a sophomore majoring in ecology and evolutionary biology. Lucian is mentored by Dr. Paulyn Cartwright, Director of the Office for Diversity in Science Training and professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Lucian’s research focuses on the characterization of opsins in an early diverging animal lineage. 

 

Danielle Williams

Danielle Williams, of Wyandotte KS, is a sophomore at KU majoring in microbiology with a minor in environmental studies. Danielle is mentored by Dr. Maggie Wagner, assistant professor in the Department of Ecology & Evolutionary biology. Danielle’s MARC research investigates the influence of soil chemical and physical properties on nutrient uptake and maize fitness.
